Garrett Nokes of McCook, Neb., begins his steer wrestling run during Thursday's "slack" competition at
the Will Rogers Stampede PRCA Rodeo. Nokes, a 2005 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualifier, competed
in three events Thursday -- steer wrestling, team roping and tie-down roping -- and is among the more than
500 contestants who entered the Claremore, Okla., rodeo. Nokes grappled his steer in 4.2 seconds.
